Dr Borimir Darakchiev
Training: Medical
Academy - Sofia, Bulgaria, Cornell University/New York Hospital,
University of Cincinnati/Mayfield Clinic.
Profile: Dr. Darakchiev’s clinical
expertise includes surgical treatment of brain tumors such
as glioma, brain metastasis secondary to cancer, meningioma,
as well as pituitary adenoma and acoustic neuroma.
He is also specialized in the surgical treatment of intractable
facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia) and hemi-facial spasm,
as well as peripheral nerve entrapment disease (carpal tunnel
syndrome and entrapped nerve at the elbow, to name a few).
Dr. Darakchiev is an experienced spine surgeon treating
degenerative disc disease causing acute and chronic neck,
back, arm and leg pain (pinched nerve from herniated lumbar
disc, for example). He combines established, standard surgical
methods with modern, minimally invasive spine techniques,
thus accomplishing minimized postoperative pain and shortened
hospital stay.
Dr. Darakchiev has a strong academic background:
he has published key articles in leading neurosurgical journals
on novel treatments for malignant brain and pituitary tumors,
as well as on spine fractures and stroke.
Dr. Darakchiev is an Assistant
Professor of Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical
Center.
